Art is research

 

For me, creative activity in the field of art was always like to be on a sailboat that connected me to different directions of inner and outer being. Artistic processes were a tool to penetrate deeper into the different levels of nature and spirit and could make the invisible visible. It gave my existence a meaning and became in all the loneliness and struggle of life a healthy balancing force to experience freedom and beauty in the world of imagination.

 

From my experience art can be created out of three different consciousness levels-

1. Creating art out of the nothing, out of the pure doing, out of the night. No idea is there, no thinking is involved, only the hand and the eye are acting out of pure intuition. Every picture is a surprise.

2. Creating art out of the feeling. Here the feeling is moving in a direction/theme. In this state you know more what you not want as what you searching for. After a while of contemplation the feeling is getting into the realization process of a picture.

3.Creating art out of a clear concept. Awareness and thinking in relation to the feeling are deeply involved to find the right structure and order of the picture.
